Are you looking to make a positive impact in the lives of children with special educational needs? GSL Education are currently recruiting a Education Support Worker to support students in schools located in Poole.

The School: The school are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for students with moderate to severe learning difficulties. With a strong focus on inclusivity and respect, the school offers a wide range of facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory rooms, and specialised therapy spaces, alongside a rich curriculum that spans from Early Years to Post 16. Students benefit from small class sizes, collaborative planning between teachers and therapists, and a variety of enrichment activities designed to build confidence, independence, and personal growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide tailored academic and emotional support to students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, helping them engage fully with the curriculum.
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons and therapeutic sessions, supporting access to resources like the hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory rooms, and specialised therapy areas.
  • Encourage the development of independence and life skills, guiding students through enrichment activities that promote confidence and self-esteem.
  • Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment, in line with the school’s nurturing ethos and person-centred approach.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families, contributing to planning and adapting learning strategies based on individual student needs.
  • Observe and record student progress, providing regular feedback to the wider team to inform targeted interventions and ongoing development.

Candidate Expectations:

  • Experience or interest in working with students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, preferably in an educational or care-based setting.
  • A compassionate, adaptable, and patient attitude, essential for supporting students in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Willingness to engage in a wide range of activities, including sessions in hydrotherapy pools, multi-sensory rooms, and specialised therapy spaces.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to support individual learning plans.
