Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide tailored support to students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, helping them access learning in both academic and therapeutic settings.
- Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs), working closely with teachers and therapists to meet specific developmental and educational needs.
- Support students during sessions in specialised facilities, such as the hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory rooms, and therapy spaces, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Encourage student participation in enrichment activities, helping to build their confidence, independence, and social skills through a variety of hands-on experiences.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment, promoting emotional well-being and personal growth for every learner.
- Contribute to collaborative planning and regular progress reviews, sharing observations and insights with the wider staff team to support holistic development.
Candidate Expectations:
- Experience working with children or young people with moderate to severe learning difficulties, or a strong willingness to learn and support diverse needs.
- A nurturing and empathetic approach, aligned with the school’s commitment to inclusivity, respect, and holistic student development.
- Ability to support a broad curriculum, including participation in therapeutic activities such as hydrotherapy, sensory-based learning, and enrichment sessions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, essential for effective collaboration with teachers, therapists, and other staff members in a multi-disciplinary setting.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the capability to respond to individual student needs in a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety practices, or a willingness to undergo relevant training to uphold student well-being.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
