About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic Mentor to support young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Bournemouth/Christchurch/Poole. In this role, you will provide 1:1 mentoring to help young people build confidence, develop social skills, and achieve their personal goals, all while working on a schedule that suits you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored mentoring sessions that encourage independence, resilience, and positive social interactions.
  • Support young people to develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Work closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting inclusion, respect, and personal growth.
  • Keep accurate records of progress and contribute to planning and review meetings.


About You

  • Experience of working with children or young people, ideally with SEN in any setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire young people to reach their potential.
  • Flexible and resilient in responding to individual needs.


To be eligible for the Maths and English Tutor role, you need:

  • Hold the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
  • Up to date Safeguarding training (can provide training)
