Our client is a leading manufacturer in the heavy engineering sector, seeking a proactive and customer-focused individual to join their team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for customers, responsible for gathering initial requirements, liaising with internal teams to calculate accurate quotes, and managing the initial stages of the sales process.
You’ll input all relevant information into SAP, respond to customer queries, and ensure a smooth handover to the Customer Service Representative for post-order account management. This is a varied and fast-paced role in a friendly and supportive office environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for customers, gathering requirements and understanding their needs.
- Liaise with the design and engineering teams to calculate accurate quotes based on customer specifications.
- Input all customer and order details into SAP, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Respond to initial customer queries via Teams, email, and phone.
- Process the sale and ensure a smooth transition to the Customer Service Representative for ongoing account management.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure feasibility and timely delivery of customer requirements.
- Work under pressure to meet deadlines and maintain high service standards.
- Embrace the dynamic nature of the role where no two days are the same.
Requirements:
- Experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Team player with a positive and proactive attitude.
Preferred but not essential:
- Experience working within a manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes and logistics.
- Proficiency in using CRM systems.
