Turkish Teaching Assistant (TA)

Vetro Recruitment is urgently seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Bilingual Supply Teaching Assistant (TA) to provide crucial support to pupils in Primary and Secondary schools across the Port Talbot area.

This specialised role requires fluency in Turkish to help bridge communication gaps, support curriculum access, and assist the cultural integration of pupils who speak Turkish as a first language.

This is a flexible supply role, allowing you to choose your availability for day-to-day and short-term placements.

Language support to pupils whose first language is Turkish, ensuring they understand classroom instructions and learning materials.

  • Curriculum Access: Work one-on-one and in small groups to help Turkish-speaking students access the Welsh/English curriculum, focusing on core subjects like Literacy and Numeracy.

  • Cultural Integration: Act as a cultural bridge, assisting with the integration of new pupils and supporting teachers in understanding pupils' individual needs and backgrounds.

  • General TA Duties: Assist the class teacher with classroom management, preparation of learning resources, and monitoring and reporting on pupil progress and well-being.

  • Diverse Settings: Adapt quickly to varied school environments, age ranges (3-18), and departmental needs across the Port Talbot area.

Essential Requirements

  • Bilingual Fluency: Native or near-native fluency in Turkish is mandatory, alongside strong spoken and written English skills.

  • Experience: Proven experience working with children or young people in an educational or similar setting.

  • Empathy: A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils, particularly those new to the UK education system.

  • Compliance: A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one with Vetro's assistance).

  • Registration: Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willingness to register.
