We have a fixed term Document Controller role available within TATA Steels Port Talbot works. Port Talbot works are responsible for producing millions of tonnes of steel each year and is an integrated iron and steelworks. This role is ideal for someone with exceptional organisational skills and is systematic, methodical and a strong communicator.

Role: Document Change Controller

Location: TATA Steel, Port Talbot SA13 2NG (office based)

Rate: £13.70ph(£26,000 per annum)

Contract length: until 31/03/2028 initially

Shift Patterns: Mon-Fri, 08:30-16:45. 36.5 hours per week

Start: ASAP but pending the completion of a medical assessment which does include a drug and alcohol test

Responsibilities:

  • Managing all project documentation in accordance with internal procedure and industry best practice
  • Ensuring document control activity is carried out effectively
  • Using Autodesk Construction Cloud, Unifier, Asite, Sharepoint and Teams systems effectively
  • Controlling the intake, tracking, distribution and storage of project documentation throughout the project
  • Ensuring all documentation is correctly filed, versionised and referenced
  • Managing work flows, approvals and statuses via online systems
  • Conducting quality checks on documents prior to submission
  • Liaising with engineering, construction, commercial and project management teams in respect of document flow
  • Creating and maintaining audit trails and procedure reports
  • Supporting the implementation of document control improvements

Essential requirements:

  • Previous experience within a document control position (2+years)
  • Previous experience within construction, engineering and/or infrastructure projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Good knowledge of ISO 19650 or similar document control/information management standards
  • Strong interpersonal skill and approachability
  • IT literacy especially with MS Office and Electronic Management Systems
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Driving Licence and access to own vehicle

Desirable requirements:

  • Previous experience within large scale and/or multi disciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of ACC, Unifier and/or Asite
  • Experience working within a Matrix organisation or with joint venture partners
