Engineering Group based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, has a requirement for a Senior Payroll Specialist to undertake a 12 month fixed term contract to support the implementation of a new HR and payroll system and the resultant increase in workload.

What will the Senior Payroll Specialist role involve?
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the position will be a split role with approximately 50% of time focused on operational payroll responsibilities with the remining time supporting the implementation project.  Specific duties will include:

  • Process and validate payroll inputs including new starters, leavers, statutory payments, pensions and pay adjustments;
  • Resolve complex payroll queries and anomalies including gross-to-net manual calculations and HMRC queries;
  • Lead year-end activities such as P60’s, P11D’s and PAYE Settlement Agreements;
  • Assist in testing activities including script development, end to end testing, defect logging and resolution;
  • Support data migration by validating conversion data and conducting pay comparisons.

Suitable Candidate for the Senior Payroll Specialist vacancy:

  • Applicants for the position will have strong experience in full-cycle, insourced UK payroll operations and be comfortable in undertaking the hands-on, processing side of the role;
  • Previous experience of working with SAP will be essential as will a demonstrable track record of successfully supporting a systems implementation.
