An exciting full time, permanent position for a Design Engineer has opened with a specialist civils contractor that was originally founded over 40 years ago, operating across the utility contracting and civil engineering sectors.
This vacancy offers a great opportunity for an experienced Design professional to join a successful and growth business and take control of an influential role.
Our client is offering a competitive package, circa £60,000 - £80,000 including 25 days leave + bank holidays, Pension scheme Company Car/ car allowance & more.
Candidate Experience:
- Proficient use of SSEN industry standard electrical design.
- Experience in use of CAD software is preferable
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it.
- Proven experience in the design DNO energy related electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Having a clear understanding of DNOs HV & LV networks.
- Lead the design and engineering projects from feasibility to commissioning phases.
- Develop and manage electrical designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversee the work of jointing engineers.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Ensure quality assurance, risk management, and adherence to safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Candidate Knowledge & Understanding
- Primary Substations Construction, installation, and commissioning
- Switchgear, Transformers & Plant Installation and commissioning
- Cable Installation & Connections HV/LV multi-core & power cables, laying, pulling, jointing, and terminating
- Excellent ability to communicate orally and in writing at all levels in the organisation
- Able to work under pressure and make important decisions
- Electrical engineering experience is essential
