Design Engineer

Are you a creative and methodical Design Engineer looking to make an impact in a dynamic engineering environment? Join our team and help shape the future of innovative product development.

As a Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering cost-effective, high-quality designs for new and existing products. Working within our Engineering Design department, you'll use advanced CAD and PLM systems to bring concepts to life, supporting the full product lifecycle from prototype to production.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in Product Design, Plastic Moulding or Die-casting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed product specifications and design components for volume manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support tooling, prototyping, and validation.
  • Maintain and update design drawings in line with tooling and departmental changes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards including QS 9000, IATF16949, and ISO14001.
  • Innovate within your product line, assess IP risks, and protect new ideas through the IDR process.
  • Share best practices and contribute to continuous improvement across the design team.

Experience and Skills

Essential:

  • Degree-level qualification in Engineering.
  • 2+ years' experience in a design/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong component design and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD (Catia used but experience with other packages is fine).
  • Automotive engineering knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and prioritisation skills.
  • A methodical, detail-oriented team player with a proactive mindset.

Desirable:

  • Experience with product design, plastic moulding, or die-casting.
  • Familiarity with mouldings/castings, DFM/DFA, DFMEA/PFMEA.
  • Knowledge of CAE, GD&T, and design of experiments.
