I have a great opportunity for a HSEQ Advisor working on a major civil engineering project near Portsmouth for an first class main contractor
Responsibilities of the HSEQ Advisor
- Provide health and safety support and advice to project teams
- Monitor the adequacy of health and safety controls, including competency checks, document reviews, audits, and site inspections,
- Conduct and review assurance and incident investigations to identify root causes and prevent reoccurrence.
- Provide written competent expert specialist advice and reports to all questions asked on HSW matters from management to employees.
- Assist the Group HESQ Manager in maintaining & developing the company’s Integrated Management System.
Scope of the HSEQ Advisor role
- Deliver and monitor performance against the Safety, Health,and Wellbeing strategy and objectives, system, standards, processes, and procedures.
- Deliver assurance visits on various construction projects and complete various inspections and audits.
- Assist in incident investigations with root cause analysis to enable continual improvement implementation.
- Assist the Group HSEQ Manager
Requirements of the HSE Advisor
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to coach and mentor other employees
- Self-starter with an ability to work independently, with limited direction and guidance.
- Robust approach with a high degree of integrity.
- Appetite and willingness to learn about the organisation and industry
Skills & Knowledge required for the HSEQ Advisor
- Robust & up to date knowledge, understanding of HSEQ legislation, best practice & its practical application.
- In depth knowledge of Construction, CDM & temporary works.
- Report writing.
- Accident investigation.
Experience required
- Experience of Quality Management Systems (ISO9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001), Health & Safety Management Systems (ISO45001) (Essential)
- Working knowledge & understanding of construction sites & working on or near water (inland & tidal) within a civil engineering environment (Essential)
Qualifications
- NEBOSH Construction a minimum & working towards Diploma or NVQ Level 6 equivalent (desirable)
- Must be CertIOSH minimum working towards CMIOSH (Essential)
- CSCS card – Manager or Academically Qualified (Essential)
- SEATS – Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (Desirable)
- Must posses a full UK driving licence (Essential)
