A specialist mechanical manufacturing company located in Portsmouth are looking for Health & Safety Manager to lead workplace health, safety, and compliance initiatives. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for ensuring that manufacturing operations meet and exceed legal, industry, and company safety standards. You will also be responsible for contractors on site and the supervision of any works carried out on site as part of a long-term investment plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve health & safety policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections across manufacturing sites and equipment.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to managers and employees to foster a positive safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation (HSE).
  • Liaise with external bodies, regulators, and insurers as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce risks and promote safe working practices.

To be considered for the position of Health & Safety Manager you will have proven experience managing a small / medium sized team, be NEBOSH qualified and ideally will have worked in a regulated manufacturing environment.
