  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are required, along with strong knowledge of M&E compliance and the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical & Electrical Contracts Manager to join our newly formed Compliance service within the Housing, Neighbourhood and Building Services Directorate.

This is a key role responsible for managing large-scale Term Service Contracts related to gas servicing, mechanical and electrical repairs, and compliance for both housing and corporate assets.

Job Title: Mechanical & Electrical Contracts Manager - Building Services
Location: Portsmouth (with travel to sites in Portsmouth, Havant, Gosport and Fareham)
Contract: Full time, 37 hours per week, 6 months
Salary: 30 per hour PAYE
Hours: 09:00 - 17:00, 37 hours per week

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing gas servicing and repairs across 17,000+ homes
  • Overseeing M&E servicing and compliance for commercial and corporate buildings
  • Leading a team and managing contractors to ensure high performance and value for money
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards
  • Developing policies, procedures, and strategies to support service delivery
  • Contributing to procurement and contract management of major service contracts
  • Supporting out-of-hours operations on a rota basis


What we're looking for:

  • A relevant degree and ideally Chartered (or working towards) with RICS, CIBSE, or CIOB
  • Strong knowledge of M&E compliance, regulations, and industry standards
  • Proven experience in managing large service contracts (ideally NEC4)
  • Experience of managing budgets, teams, and driving service improvement
  • Confident in dealing with senior stakeholders and external partners
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
