We are currently working with a well-established building and refurbishment contractor based in Portsmouth who deliver a wide range of projects across Hampshire, from main contracting, fitout, refurbishment, maintenance and general small construction works. They work on a range of projects, from MOD, Healthcare, Education & more.

The Role:
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Small Works Manager to oversee a variety of small to medium-sized projects. You’ll be responsible for managing works from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage multiple small works and refurbishment projects concurrently.
  • Prepare cost estimates, quotations, and project programmes.
  • Coordinate site activities, including labour, subcontractors, and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, particularly on MOD sites.
  • Liaise with clients, site representatives, and stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Manage project documentation, progress reports, and financial tracking.
  • Identify and manage risks, issues, and variations.


About You:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the building or refurbishment sector.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience working on MOD sites or with defence-related clients is desirable.
  • Sound knowledge of construction processes, H&S requirements, and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to pass MOD security clearance checks.
