Visiting LAMDA Teacher

Our clients School is a leading co-educational school located in the heart of historic Portsmouth.
The Role
They are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring LAMDA teacher to join their team of talented and dedicated visiting teachers and teach small group lessons, specializing in teaching KS1 to KS3 from September 2025.
There is initially a requirement for two days of teaching consisting of both Junior and Senior School classes.
LAMDA is available to all pupils from Year 1 to 6 in their Junior School and from Year 7 to 9 in their Senior School. Classes require careful scheduling and their visiting LAMDA teacher will also be responsible for running the private examination centre.
LAMDA thrives at PGS, achieving consistently excellent results and engagement from pupils, and they are seeking someone who has enthusiasm for enabling each pupil to achieve their potential and for supporting pupils to find their voice, build confidence and hone teamwork skills.
Their visiting teachers are self-employed and sign a consultancy agreement with the school. There is an expectation that visiting teachers attend INSET (Professional Development Day) training to include Safeguarding, GDPR and Health and Safety.
Main Responsibilities:
- Teach small group LAMDA lessons for pupils across Junior and Senior year groups, in line with the LAMDA syllabus requirements
- Schedule lessons for Junior School pupils during breaks and lunchtimes
- Schedule lessons for Senior School pupils on a rotating timetable
- Communicate with pupils, parents and staff in the delivery of a timetable
- Enable all pupils to fulfil their maximum potential in a safe and nurturing environment
- Run the private examination centre to include booking exam dates, entering candidates, paying fees
- Invoice parents/guardians directly
- Prepare and maintain resources and equipment
- To ensure the safeguarding of pupils
The Ideal Candidate
- Academic and professional qualifications relevant to the teaching of LAMDA at the ages and level required
- Experience as a visiting LAMDA teacher, teaching groups from KS2 upwards
- Experience running own private exam centre
- Ability to work effectively as part of a department
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong direction skills
- Effective and approachable in the management of young people
- Experienced in group entries and the devised and acting syllabus
- Core values to empower pupils to find their voice, build confidence and hone teamwork skills
- Enthusiasm for enabling each pupil to achieve their potential
- A very good knowledge of the exam options on the LAMDA syllabus
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and boundaries with young people
- Willingness to undertake all necessary safeguarding and other training
