CMS2 is part of a wider group (Science Group). Science Group is a science & technology business providing consultancy and systems to an international client base.
Role Description:
Site ownership of Quality, providing leadership within Quality to fit the business strategy. Reporting into Managing Director with dotted line engagement with Science Group head of quality, but the role is embedded into the delivery function working closely with the associated teams.
Managing and developing the quality team covering Quality Inspection, Quality Assurance, Customer Quality and Environmental Management
The role has three key aspects to it:
Provide Quality input, technical understanding and Quality assurance to ensure products are manufactured right first time. Sign-off of deliverable product to clients. This is supported by Quality Engineering team that reports into the Quality Manager.
As part of this, to provide technical quality engineering support to the programme teams ensuring appropriate control mechanisms are implemented and suitable risk analysis is performed to validate the effectiveness of controls, ensuring the use of appropriate tools to include but not limited to:
MITP (Manufacturing Inspection Test Plan)/Quality Plans
Process Flows
Root cause analysis
Responsible for timely response/resolution to external and internal non-conformance, troubleshooting manufacturing and supplier based issues
The Quality Manager will represent CMS2 to customers on Quality matters, supported and delegated as appropriate to the Quality Engineers
Ownership of the Quality Management System ensuring it is in line with the guidelines and external certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001) and/or specific customer requirements in order to gain and maintain approvals. This is supported by a direct report.
Coordinate internal functions in support of the QMS, communicating, training and implementing quality initiatives. Promote and support the overall maintenance and improvement of all processes, working closely with the department heads.
Set up the management review system and ensure actions and outputs are followed through to completion.
The Quality Manager will ensure that the quality management system is followed consistently and support all functions to ensure the system is up to date and are actual practice.
Lead, coach and train an internal cross-functional audit team that . Develop the Quality Management System to ensure applicability to the business on an ongoing basis.
Lead root cause analysis, coordinating corrective/preventative actions for customer complaints, internal non conformances and alerts.
Carry out supplier audits when necessary
Define and coordinate the implementation and verification of the effectiveness of corrective and preventative measures
Ownership of Environmental within the CMS2 management team
Understand the applicable environmental legislation and maintain an up to date awareness of any legal changes whilst maintaining the accreditation of ISO14001
Report on environmental statistics and key findings senior management to enable them to understand and fulfil their environmental responsibilities
Formulate and implement an effective waste management policy
Develop and maintain a suitable system to comply with the requirements of ISO 14001
Communicate Quality metrics (associated with the different aspects of the role) internally, submitting weekly and monthly reports in support of management reporting.
Link into Science Group Quality function to share approaches, best practices and lessons learned across divisions.
Maintaining a continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.
About You:
Experience of maintaining ISO9001, ISO14001 accreditations standards with awareness of AS9100.
Knowledge and experience within highly regulated environment e.g. Defence, Automotive, Nuclear, Oil and Gas, Aerospace industry
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and process application
Experience of managing a small team
Customer management experience of Tier 1 clients
Certified to minimum internal auditor (lead auditor preferable)
Minimum of 5 years engineering experience within a quality environment.
Strong IT skills with a good understanding of Microsoft packages and the ability to understand customer data
Ability to engage employees and encourage them to adopt new approaches
Desirable:
Knowledge of MoD DefStans and DefCons
Dynamic personality capable of leading cultural change across multiple departments
A proven self starter with the skill to motivate others and lead, sustaining momentum surrounding deadlines
Evidence of team building experience through development plans, coaching and mentorship
