Transport Administrator Job Overview

A well-established, family-owned transport and logistics company based in Portsmouth is currently seeking a Network Coordinator / Transport Administrator to join their growing Pallet Network Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced transport office professional to work in a fast-paced and supportive environment where no two days are the same.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth coordination of the pallet network operations, working closely with drivers, depots, and internal teams to maintain service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a central point of contact for customers, depots, and drivers via phone and email
  • Efficiently book and manage jobs using bespoke transport software
  • Resolve transport-related queries and issues in a timely manner
  • Coordinate delivery and collection schedules using routing systems and direct communication with drivers
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with both company procedures and regulatory standards
  • Deliver high-quality customer service while supporting overall operational efficiency

Working hours:

  • Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 6:30pm (1-hour lunch break)
  • Flexibility required to cover additional shifts during colleague absences:
    • 6:00am - 2:30pm
    • 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Saturday rota (1 in 4): Light duties from home (typically a few hours)
Transport Administrator Job Requirements
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a busy transport or logistics office (minimum 2 years required)
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Fully computer literate with the ability to quickly adapt to bespoke systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have access to own transport due to location
  • Flexible and solutions-focused with a 'can-do' attitude
