We’re currently hiring a Control Engineer to join the High Voltage Electrical Distribution team in Portsmouth, working on a 24/7 shift pattern in support of one of the UK’s most important defence sites.

In this role, you’ll manage, configure, and switch the HV network using SCADA systems. You’ll also support HV APs, maintain safety documentation, and respond to outages quickly and safely. It’s a technically varied role in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment – ideal for someone with strong HV knowledge and a proactive attitude.

Salary is £44,310+ 31% uplift, full benefits package.

What do you need?

  • City & Guilds in Electrical Installations

  • High Voltage Authorised Person (AP01) training

  • IOSH Health & Safety qualification

  • First Aid trained

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical distribution

  • SCADA system experience

  • Strong understanding of ESDR, JSP375 and safe systems of work

  • Full right to work in the UK

What will you be doing?

  • HV switching and SCADA operation

  • Supporting field and coordinating APs

  • Maintaining safety documentation and ESDR compliance

  • Managing power outages and restoration

  • Creating risk and method statements

  • Assisting with frequency changer maintenance

  • Contributing to SHE performance and team utilisation

  • Attending stakeholder meetings and cross-functional discussions

  • Supporting a safe, compliant and proactive work environment
