You’ll join our Military Equipment Tools Solutions (METS) team who provides crucial support to a variety of platforms within the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force. As part of the METS team, you’ll be responsible for the tools and toolkits used across all three services. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the armed forces are equipped with the best tools to maintain and operate their equipment effectively.
Your primary focus will be to assist in providing toolkits that meet defence standards, including those set by the Military Aviation Authority. You’ll offer in-service support to tri-service customers, ensuring that their needs are met promptly and efficiently. Your strong verbal and written communication skills will be essential as you collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels, both within and outside the team. This includes working closely with military personnel, contractors, and other government departments to ensure that all tools and equipment are up to standard and ready for use.
We champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required (minimum 3 days per week) to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.

What you’ll be doing
- Hold responsibility for the conducting of input and output inspections of toolkits
- Inspection of component parts received from industry partners
- Completing stage and final inspections of the product to ensure compliance with METS quality standards and meets customer expectations
- Reviewing and updating internal METS processes and quality management system
- Reviewing and updating the on-line technical support publication which are used by the tri-service customer
Person specificationTo be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
- Hold a Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics based qualification at RQF Level 3 (or higher)
- Have some experience of providing technical advice and delivery of successful engineering outcomes
