Prospero Teaching are looking for a compassionate, positive, and adaptable Tutor to support a young person in Portsmouth who is preparing for their GCSEs in Maths and English. This young learner experiences communication challenges and has SEMH needs, particularly around anxiety. About the Role
  • Location: Portsmouth
  • Subjects: GCSE Maths (2 hours per week) and English (2 hours per week)- Total of 4 hours per week

As a n GCSE Tutor you will:

    • Deliver high-quality Maths and English tuition adapted to individual needs
    • Use creative and therapeutic approaches to engage learners
    • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback
    • Support emotional well being and resilience through positive relationships

About you:

      • A minimum of 1 year's experience working in UK schools or tutoring GCSE-level students
      • Experience or understanding of SEMH and communication needs
      • A gentle and encouraging approach to teaching
      • Ability to adapt lessons to suit the learner's emotional and academic needs
      • Someone who values relationship-building and can create a safe, trusting learning environment

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

      • Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
          • Knowledge of safeguarding and SEND frameworks
          • Experience of working with learners with SEMH needs
          • Experience of supporting learners with Maths and English GCSE

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
