Are you passionate about supporting young people in their personal and academic development? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mentor and Tutor to work with two Key Stage 3 students in the Portsmouth area for between 21-25 hours per week.
As a Mentor/Tutor, you will:
- Drive the young person from home and school and undertake mentoring activities in the community.
- Understand the needs, interests and goals of the young person that you are mentoring, to plan engaging tasks/ activities.
- Assist the young person in your care to develop their confidence.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
- Record student progress and report on this weekly.
- Be understanding, empathetic and patient.
- Record attendance.
- Be organised, dependable and creative.

Full time/part-time - 21-25 hours per week- flexible
Hours - Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings (9:30am-12:30pm) and flexibility with afternoons.
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience working with learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)/ SEMH needs is essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles.
- Organisational skills, patience, empathy.
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
