Full-Time Secondary Behaviour Support – Portsmouth, Hampshire

GSL Education are currently seeking a passionate and resilient individual to join a dynamic secondary school in Portsmouth as a full-time Behaviour Support. This vital role begins immediately, offering a rewarding annual salary between £21,500 and £24,500, and operates during term time only from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar setting or bring transferable skills from roles such as youth work, social care, or pastoral support. Patience, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-the-ground support to students across the school who may present behavioural challenges.
- Build strong, trusting relationships to help guide young people through emotional or behavioural difficulties.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral leads, and external agencies to implement tailored interventions.
- Encourage positive behaviour and resilience through consistent, supportive engagement.
- Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with young people in a support, pastoral, or mentoring role.
- Calm, patient, and non-judgemental approach to managing challenging behaviour.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport.
- Resilience and confidence in a fast-paced school environment.
- A genuine passion for supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
