This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of large-scale projects — valued up to £30 million — within one of the UK’s most complex and high-profile engineering environments.

We’re seeking a Building Services Project Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of major infrastructure and compliance-led projects across Portsmouth Naval Base, covering a diverse estate of over 450 buildings.

As part of the Building Services team, you’ll be responsible for managing multiple projects from design through to commissioning and handover — working closely with engineers, contractors, the client, and end users.

You’ll lead on all aspects of project delivery, including scope development, procurement, cost control, and programme management, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

This role will particularly suit someone with experience in HVAC systems, mechanical building services, or statutory compliance works within large estates, public sector, or defence environments.

What do you need?
  • Proven experience delivering Building Services or HVAC projects, ideally within complex or secure sites

  • Experience managing projects up to £30 million in value, across multiple buildings or facilities

  • Strong understanding of building compliance, mechanical systems, and health & safety regulations

  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and supply chain partners

  • Solid understanding of Building Regulations, British Standards, CDM Regulations, and industry best practice

  • Ideally qualified with a Degree, HNC/HND in Building Services, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering

  • Professional certification such as APM PMQ, SMSTS, IOSH or NEBOSH is advantageous
