Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Expert Teaching: Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and effective History lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of our students across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5.
  • Student Progress: Monitoring, assessing, and tracking student progress in History, providing constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies where necessary.
  • Curriculum Contribution: Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of the History curriculum, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum and promoting innovative teaching practices.
  • Assessment and Examinations: Preparing students for Key Stage 3 assessments, GCSE History examinations, and potentially A-Level History examinations, ensuring accurate and timely assessment practices.
  • Resource Management: Utilizing and contributing to the development of high-quality historical resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Extracurricular Involvement: Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote History within the school community (e.g., history clubs, debates, historical trips to local sites in Portsmouth and beyond).
  • Collaboration: Working collaboratively with colleagues within the Humanities department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
