In this role, you’ll be programming, configuring, and optimising Fire Alarm and/or PLC systems—ideally Advanced fire alarm panels and Schneider Modicon PLCs, although experience with other systems is transferable. You’ll also play a key role in commissioning and testing, fault finding, and ensuring that critical life-safety systems meet the highest operational standards.

Competitive salary up to £48,000 (depending on experience), based on a 35-hour working week.

What do you need?

  • Proven experience programming fire alarm systems (Advanced preferred)

  • PLC programming experience (Schneider Modicon ideal, others considered)

  • Background in process control—HVAC experience an advantage

  • Strong debugging and fault-finding skills

  • Attention to detail and a methodical, process-driven approach

What will you be doing?

  • Programming, configuring, and optimising fire alarm and PLC systems

  • Assisting with commissioning and testing, including live fault-finding

  • Working closely with engineers to refine processes and ensure specifications are met

  • Supporting projects from design through to maintenance, ensuring reliability and compliance

  • Full-time, permanent position

  • Salary: £38,000–£48,000 per annum DOE

  • Hours: 35 per week

  • Based in Portsmouth with site-based commissioning as required
