Job Title: Housing Officer

Contract: Temporary (5 Months)

Location: Portsmouth (with 1 day per week working from home)

Pay: £19.70 - £22.08 per hour PAYE

We are looking for a confident and approachable Housing Officer to deliver first-class tenancy management services. In this fast-paced role, you will work with residents from diverse backgrounds, building trust, resolving issues, and sometimes having those direct, challenging conversations needed to sustain successful tenancies.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage a patch of properties, supporting tenants to meet their responsibilities.
  • Visit customers at home, tailoring your approach to individual needs.
  • Tackle tenancy breaches, antisocial behaviour, and property upkeep issues.
  • Provide guidance on budgeting, income maximisation, and access to support.
  • Work with partner agencies to address complex cases.
  • Keep accurate records and prepare documentation for meetings or court.

What you will bring:

  • Strong communication and questioning skills, with the confidence to challenge when needed.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role (housing, police, social care, estate agency, money/debt advice all considered).
  • Organised, resilient, and able to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and case recording systems.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
