Following years of growth our client is seeking an experienced Transport Planner based in Portsmouth for a transport logistics business.

You will be working as part of a busy transport team and will be responsible for completing and overseeing the day-to-day planning function of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a quick and fast-paced environment and be able to deal with day to day challenges in providing an effective transport plan.

  • SALARY - £33,000K
  • HOURS - Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm

Job responsibilities:

  • Work with Transport teams, to create an efficient transport plan using the latest portal
  • Ensure that vehicles due for planned maintenance/inspection/refurbishment etc are routed to meet scheduled dates and business requirements.
  • Subcontracting and planning orders from multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK
  • Planning daily workload of fleet: vehicles based on site
  • Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that may arise
  • Planning approx. 100 collections per day on a time critical basis
  • Maintaining and exceeding agreed KPIs
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business particularly at peak periods during the year

Skills Required:

As a Transport Planner you will possess the following skill, experiences and qualifications:

  • You should be able to comfortably organise your own workload and will be able to work in a pressurised environment to meet key deadlines.
  • You should be PC literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word in particular.
  • You must also have at least 2 years experience in a transport and logistics environment.
  • As the successful candidate you will be able to work on your own initiative, with the willingness to resolve complex issues.
