Bid Writer - Construction

The role is varied so we are looking for someone who is happy juggling a busy workload (eg. bid deadline, developing bid content, etc). This role will work between the two with the goal of supporting and developing the bid function.

The successful applicant is to produce professionally written proposals and pitch content that articulates the organisations proposition and win themes, developing the bid structure and knowledge bank in order for us to win new contracts. The position plays a leading role in ensuring the effective co-ordination and timely completion of bids. The role will be engaged to help develop the value proposition and articulate the solution narrative. Supporting marketing is required in the form of content writing for case studies, website and award submissions.

Main duties:

  • Responsible for submissions, PQQs and tenders.
  • Ability to develop benefits-based proposals that articulate true customer value.
  • Project management of the bid process, agreeing strategy with sector teams, ensuring adequate resources to complete submission.
  • Managing resources throughout the process, ensuring all content is in place, and for the quality of final output subject to approval and including client engagement.
  • Creation of high quality PQQ and bid documents, writing and editing content and document production.
  • Contribution to development and implementation of the Bid Improvement Plan
  • Preparing written editorial content for inclusion in case studies, brochures, award submissions, marketing materials, event invites and client handouts
  • Interviewing internal members within the business to develop technical information contributing towards bid content
  • Management and development of the company knowledge bank for bid writing
  • Attend and or lead kick off and storyboard sessions with bid team members
  • Support and coaching the existing bid coordinator / Writer
  • Attending 1-2 exhibitions a year to develop knowledge on relevant industry talks.

Skills and experience:

  • Exemplary creative writing skill/style and knowledge of application within a bid environment.
  • Knowledge of energy/construction/maintenance/building/environment and/or sectors.
  • Strong writing skills the ability to produce copy and translate technical information into plain English.
  • Experience and use of A.I systems
  • A proactive approach to work with excellent organisational skills, self-motivated also with the ability to work in a team
  • Working knowledge of electronic tender platforms.
  • Experience in social housing or renewable technology industries.
  • Experience of managing and updating a knowledge base is desirable.
