A specialist SEMH school in the Birkenhead area of the Wirral is seeking committed, resilient, and proactive individuals to join their team as Unqualified Teaching Assistants from September 2025.

This is a full-time, term-time only position where you'll play a vital role in supporting children and young people who may display challenging behaviours due to social and emotional barriers.

No teaching qualifications are required - just the right experience, attitude, and a passion for helping others.The Role:
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, both in the classroom and during unstructured times.

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.

  • Assisting in the management and de-escalation of challenging behaviours.

  • Working closely with teaching staff and other support professionals as part of a team-focused environment.

  • Contributing to a calm, structured, and inclusive learning space.

You Must:
  • Have a background in support work, care, sports coaching, the military, or the police.

  • Be resilient, patient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.

  • Be a team player with a proactive, can-do attitude.

  • Have a minimum of 24 months of employment references within the last 5 years (with no major gaps in employment).

  • Hold a Child Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
