Eventus Legal are seeking a Head of Conveyancing to join the Property Department of a highly reputable law firm. This is a permanent, full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to lead a busy, high-performing conveyancing team in Birkenhead. About the Role

The incoming Head of Conveyancing will be responsible for the professional lead, legal training, and supervision of the property team, covering sale and purchase, remortgage, transfer of equity, and equity release matters. The role also involves:

  • Conducting regular file reviews and day-to-day supervision of fee earners
  • Delivering structured, ongoing legal training for all fee earners and support staff
  • Maintaining best practice template letters and documents within the case management system
  • Supporting Lexcel and CQS compliance and accreditation requirements
  • Reviewing and authorising undertakings, retentions, and other procedural matters
  • Managing risk and compliance within the department, including anti-money laundering procedures and High-Risk Registers
  • Investigating professional negligence allegations and GDPR-related incidents, reporting to the Managing Director
  • Overseeing effective client management strategies to ensure high standards of client service and fee recovery
  • Handling client complaints in accordance with the firm's procedures
  • Developing strong relationships with third-party introducers and supporting business development efforts

Person specification

Applications are sought from Solicitors with previous experience of managing a team and business development. You will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Proven track record of managing and supervising a team of property fee earners
  • Extensive knowledge of property law and best practice conveyancing procedures
  • Strong compliance background, particularly in line with Lexcel, CQS, SRA, and GDPR requirements
  • Experience designing and delivering legal training programmes
  • Excellent risk management, client care, and file supervision skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
