Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join my client in North Wales. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone starting their career in Quantity Surveying. As a Trainee, you will work closely with experienced professionals, supporting the delivery of high-quality construction projects. You will gain hands-on experience and receive training and guidance to develop your skills and knowledge in the field of Quantity Surveying.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and management of project budgets, cost estimates, and financial reports.
- Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in managing procurement, contracts, and subcontractor arrangements.
- Help with the measurement and valuation of works completed on site.
- Assist in preparing and submitting interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Conduct site visits, measuring and recording quantities of materials and work completed.
- Contribute to the preparation of cost plans and tender documents.
- Maintain accurate records of project costs and expenditure.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Participate in team meetings and assist with administrative tasks as required.
- Continuously develop within the field of Quantity Surveying, attending relevant training and courses.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A keen interest in construction and Quantity Surveying.
- Achieve 5 GSCE's or equivalent. Grade 4 or above (including English and Maths).
- Achieve 2 A Levels Grade C or above, or equivalent (BTEC or T Levels).
- A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field (e.g., studying towards a degree, HNC, or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- A full UK driving license (or ability to travel to various sites, if necessary).
Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience or an internship in the construction industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of construction contracts and project management is advantageous.
