Graduate Finance Assistant September 2025

Location: Presteigne

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000

Overview:

Our Client specialises in sophisticated RF and Microwave printed circuit boards (PCBs) and assemblies, serving industries with demanding requirements, such as Defence, Space, Aerospace and Medical. With over 40 years in the PCB industry, working on a wide variety of projects, they have the expertise to deliver the most complex PCB solutions, including metal-backed and multilayer PCBs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, reports, and reconciliations.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes across various business units.
  • Perform cost analysis and assist with pricing models for defence and aerospace contracts.
  • Work on project accounting, monitoring financial performance against key contracts.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing relevant financial documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, defence industry standards, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Procurement, and Programme Management.
  • Use financial systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms) to process transactions and generate reports.

Education & Qualifications:

  • 2:1 or above (expected or obtained) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English - Grade B/6 or above.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modelling or analysis is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Desirable:

  • Previous internship or placement year in a finance-related role.
  • Knowledge or interest in the aerospace and defence sector.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations such as IFRS or UK GAAP.
