The Opportunity
Our client is currently looking for an experienced Technical engineer to bolster their Technical offerings, and support our Technical Director. You will be joining a successful and established utility consultancy who focus on client needs, invest in their teams and promote and reward from within! 

The role
As a Technical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, procuring, implementing, and optimising utility systems to reduce connection timescales, enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

The position is office based at Warrington with requirement for travel to development sites and client/contractor offices to undertake meetings and survey works.
Working hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday-Friday (Flexible working hours available).

Your duties and responsibilities will be

  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, conducting technical assessments, analysing energy consumption patterns, and proposing innovative solutions aligned with our client’s net-zero and renewable energy objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director and cross-functional teams to develop and implement utility solutions.
  • Conduct technical assessments and analysis to identify opportunities for optimising connections and integrating renewable energy or battery storage sources.
  • Produce and submit technical documents for grid connection applications.
  • Design and engineer innovative utility systems and infrastructure upgrades to enhance options.
  • Utilise modelling and simulation tools where required to evaluate the performance of proposed solutions and assess their impact on operational metrics and any environmental goals.
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to procure and implement systems including renewable energy technologies and energy storage.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for the deployment, testing, and commissioning of utility systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in renewable energy, data centre infrastructure, and sustainable engineering, and apply insights to drive innovation.

You will have the following qualifications and experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or time-served experience.
  • Experience in technical engineering roles, with a focus on energy systems, data centre infrastructure, or renewable energy technologies.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in engineering, particularly in energy systems, data centre infrastructure, and sustainable technologies, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for driving initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of utility systems, power distribution, and energy management principles (132kV and above preferable).
  • Familiarity with renewable energy sources, energy storage technologies, and sustainable design practices.
  • Familiarity in modelling and simulation software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clients.
  • Passion for engineering and innovation and commitment to driving change.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or time-served experience.

It’s great if you also have the following

  • Electrical bias in Power Systems with Transmission exposure.
