What you'll do:
As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the finance team. Your day-to-day tasks will involve supporting both the Accounts Payable and Receivable functions, maintaining cash and bank records, and assisting with month-end tasks. You will be responsible for processing supplier invoices, reconciling statements, raising customer invoices, chasing overdue debt, conducting daily bank reconciliation, processing petty cash transactions, assisting with month-end reporting and supporting audits. Your excellent organisational skills will ensure that all records are kept accurate and up-to-date.
* Processing supplier invoices, credit notes and ensuring accurate coding (Accounts Payable)
* Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice/payment queries
* Raising customer invoices and allocating incoming payments (Accounts Receivable)
* Chasing overdue debt and assisting with credit control procedures
* Daily bank reconciliation and cash postings across multiple bank accounts
* Processing petty cash and credit card transactions
* Assisting with month-end reporting, including journals, accruals and prepayments
* Supporting internal and external audits as required
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in line with company procedures
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Accounts Assistant position will have previous experience in a similar role within the finance sector. You should have a good understanding of finance processes, strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. Proficiency in Excel and experience with finance systems is essential.
