Gut Room Operative

We are currently recruiting for several Gut Room Operatives for one of the leading pork abattoirs, based in Preston, Hull.

This is a temporary-to-permanent position as the client is looking for candidates to work on a long-term, fixed basis.

Gut Room Operatives work Monday to Friday, 7am - 6pm.

The starting rate of pay is £14.12 per hour, with overtime available after 48 hours paid at £17.65 per hour.

An attendance bonus is available to all workers, which is an additional £1 for every hour worked each week - so if you work 55 hours in a week, you'll receive £55 bonus payment.

There are higher grades with pay rates up to £15.77 per hour, and £31.54 for overtime - these opportunities are available to anyone who is willing to commit to the training and learn the skills.

Your Time at Work

As a Gut Room Operative, your duties will include:

- Cleaning and stripping down offal into different animal by-product categories
- Labelling accurately so that the correct product is placed in the relevant container to await collection by the appropriate waste/by-product carrier
- Harvesting, processing and distribution of natural casings, meat products
- Maintain clean working practices to prevent slips and trips and avoid cross-contamination
- You will work as part of a team

Our Perfect Worker

Our ideal Gut Room Operative requires a strong stomach as you will be dealing with large quantities of manure, animal stomachs, and intestines.

Knife skills and the ability to efficiently process and separate green offal to ensure high yields are a key priority in this role.

Previous experience is not essential as full training will be provided.
