Paralegal - Planning and Highways

Flexible Hybrid Working

A northwest based local authority have reached out as they are looking to recruit a Paralegal to join their Planning and Highways team on an interim basis. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload and assist the legal team with work for a wide variety of clients including Highways and Public Rights of Way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft highway adoption agreements and agreements for works in the highway under sections 38 and 278 of the Highways Act 1980.
  • Deal with Public Rights of Way matters within the team particularly the procedures to change the record of the public rights of way network.
  • Prepare and process Traffic Regulation Orders and other matters relating to road traffic such as Speed Limit Orders and Parking Queries.

Key Requirements:

  • Legal qualification with 5 GCSE's (including English) or 2 A levels.
  • Experience of working as part of a team in a legal environment.
  • Excellent communication skills - you should be able to explain complex information both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to work independently and plan your workload to meet statutory deadlines.
