A Mechanical Design Engineer is needed to carry out design changes to existing facilities and to contribute to the design of new-build structures on a Nuclear Licensed Site. The role involves delivering mechanical engineering designs in line with defined standards, regulatory requirements, and internal design control procedures. Assigned work packages must be completed with a focus on quality, safety, and adherence to project timelines. Responsibilities will span the full design lifecycle-from initial concept and development through to final production and handover. Tasks will include preparing equipment specifications, initiating and evaluating tenders, producing detailed designs (including drawings and supporting documents), and generating commissioning and handover documentation. The role also involves reviewing and validating design work, as well as overseeing junior team members such as mechanical designers and draughtspeople. Additionally, the engineer will be expected to provide Intelligent Customer oversight, ensuring quality and scope compliance for work subcontracted to external design firms.

The candidate must have the following skills, experience & qualifications:
* Experience of working within multidiscipline teams engaged in mechanical engineering design activities associated with the modification of existing/new chemical process plants or material handling equipment.
* Producing and working to design Governance documentation/procedures, such as Design Quality Plans, Design Risk Assessments, Design Reviews, etc.
* Experience with design software tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, etc.
* Knowledge and experience in the responsibilities placed on Designers under the CDM Regulations 2015.
* Suitably qualified and experienced (HNC/degree) in producing Mechanical designs in a Design Office environment

It would be advantageous but not essential for candidates to have the following experience:
* Experience of producing designs for chemical plant environments including associated mechanical services.
* Experience of producing designs for nuclear facilities.
* Experience of piping and vessel design.
