Logistics Planner; 12 month contract; based at Samlesbury; 37 hours a week; £21.38 per hour Logistics Planner is required to work for BAE Systems, based out of their Samlesbury site.You will become a key member of the logistics team, overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of delivery schedules for our product distribution. The responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Coordinating logistics with suppliers, warehouses, and transportation providers. • Developing and maintaining delivery schedules to ensure on-time product deliveries. • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any logistical issues. • Identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies in logistics operations. This role is covering maternity leave, the absence will create a significant gap in logistics planning and could result in delays, inefficiencies, and potential disruptions to product deliveries. Join us and you will be working alongside other teams to deliver products that will be in service for 40+ years and be continually upgraded to maintain Customers Air Defence capabilities. As a Logistics Planner, you could be conducting planning activities across a wide range of products covering the full production lifecycle from detail manufacturing, minor and major assemblies, final assembly to acceptance and delivery to customers. These tasks could range from initial bid management to contract management including assembly scheduling, load smoothing, progress monitoring and order book management. List the key areas of activities which the role performs. 1) Order book management and maintenance utilising the ERP system. Release of kits & expedition of internal & external supply chain shortages, including obtaining forecasts & driving supply chain improvements where required to support delivery of scheduled commitments to the Customers 2) Contribution to the DSUM/WSUM sessions with logistics team members and other supply chain stakeholders, and support effective reviews to facilitate supply chain performance and ensure any logistics actions are closed in a timely manner through open, honest and timely communication 3) Support to the achieving and reviewing of key business performance metrics and the timely implementation of any actions resulting from the reviews in adherence with logistics governance principles and processes 4) Support any activity surrounding company health, safety and environment plans and take due responsibility for yourself and colleagues operating in your area 5) Support and implement the developing principles of operational excellence and continuous improvement within your area 6) Supporting the drive to a digital factory and single source of data Essential: • An understanding of Logistics and Supply Chain Principles and awareness of procedures and processes, such as an awareness of min max systems & understanding of Export Control. • Good communication and interpersonal skills including IT proficiency (including the use of MS software such as outlook and excel) with an ability to engage and work well with a number of cross functional stakeholders Desirable: • Working knowledge of ERP and asset management systems • Ability to contribute to problem solving activities for the development of short and long term solutions to day to day problems • Applicants ideally will hold professional accreditation and qualification from a recognised Logistics/Supply Chain body, or be willing to work towards professional accreditation and qualification Morson is acting as an employment business in relation to this vacancy.
