Payroll Officer (Temporary - Immediate Start)

Location: Preston (Hybrid Working)

Contract: 2-3 months

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Join a dynamic and fast-paced organisation in Preston as a Temporary Payroll Officer, supporting the business during a period of short-term cover. This is a hybrid working role, and you'll be joining a friendly and supportive team who will help you settle in quickly and hit the ground running.

The Role:

As Payroll Officer, you'll be responsible for processing a portion of the company's payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion. You'll support the wider payroll function and play a key role in maintaining smooth operations throughout the contract period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process end-to-end payroll for a dedicated group of weekly/monthly employees

  • Manage statutory payments including SSP, SMP, and pensions

  • Ensure payroll compliance with HMRC and current legislation

  • Resolve payroll queries promptly and professionally

  • Liaise with internal teams and external bodies where needed

About You:

  • Proven experience running payroll from start to finish

  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices

  • Confident working independently and managing your workload

  • Available to start immediately and commit to the full contract
