We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Principal Process Engineer. This is a hybrid role with regular site attendance expected.

You will report directly to the Responsible Discipline Lead (RDL), and your role will be to provide superior quality Engineering Design services to help the organization minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. To ensure this, the individual must coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, taking into account health and safety requirements, specifications, and contract standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce cost-effective design layouts that meet specification requirements and can be constructed and commissioned efficiently. "Cost" includes design time, material, erection, and any inter-discipline impacts.

Ensure standard practices are used wherever possible.

Maintain competitiveness in design approaches.

Provide estimates and technical feedback to the Proposals team.

Follow and help develop procedures and processes for departmental growth.

Write, update, and monitor efficient procedures for department operations.

Ensure coordinated designs across all internal and external disciplines involved in the contract.

Maintain comprehensive project files and records.

Ensure customer satisfaction, recognising that customers include end users and internal stakeholders.

Maintain a personal development plan.

Assist in supervising and developing junior staff.

Contribute to ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.

Minimise waste in all departmental activities.

Ensure designs consider environmental and health and safety factors.

About the Candidate

Essential:

Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles

Experience in managing staff responsible for designing treatment plant components

Chartered status or membership of a relevant professional institution

Degree in a relevant engineering discipline

Ability to create rational, economic plant layouts

Broad knowledge of water treatment, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management

Flexible thinker with ability to handle large, varied data sets

Skilled in presenting technical proposals confidently and clearly

Computer literate

Valid driving license
