Your new role

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Preston. Working on a variety of public and private sector projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost planning and financial control throughout the construction lifecycle. This is a great opportunity to become an integral part of a supportive and professional team with a strong pipeline of work across the region.



Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender documentation for new projects

  • Conducting feasibility studies to assess project viability and budget alignment

  • Monitoring budgets, controlling expenditures, and reporting on cost performance

  • Advising on procurement strategy and managing subcontractor packages

  • Collaborating with the site team, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure project delivery within budget

  • Visiting sites to monitor progress and ensure financial and contractual compliance

  • Providing accurate reporting on project costs, forecasts, and cash flows

  • Maintaining robust records of financial transactions and project variations

  • Supporting the growth of the company through strong client relationships and commercial awareness



What you will need to succeed:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline

  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the construction industry

  • Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement, and contractual matters

  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a keen eye for detail

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines

  • MRICS qualification is desirable but not essential

  • Ambition to grow within the business and contribute to its continued success
