Outdoor Education Teaching Assistant - Preston

We're seeking an energetic and resilient individual to join a Preston SEN School as a Outdoor Education Teaching Assistant. The school is keen to appoint someone who is passionate about working with young people in an active, outdoor setting.

About the Role:This is a hands-on, high-energy role supporting the Outdoor Education Lead from Monday to Thursday, working primarily with Year 7-9 students. You'll be out of school with groups of up to 8 pupils, helping deliver outdoor learning experiences that support both academic and personal development.

You'll be under the guidance of our highly experienced Outdoor Education Lead, who will provide mentorship and ongoing training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise pupil groups closely to ensure safety, engagement, and well being during outdoor activities.

  • Support pupils with a range of needs including sensory sensitivities, physical limitations, and social skill challenges.

  • Assist with behaviour modelling and emotional support throughout the day.

  • On Fridays, work on-site to complete admin tasks, support lessons, and supervise or lead pupil activity time (e.g., football, computing, golf, pool, basketball, or social groups).

What We're Looking For:

  • Someone with stamina and resilience, who enjoys being outdoors and can maintain enthusiasm across a full day with pupils.

  • A team player with a nurturing but consistent approach to behaviour management.

  • Minibus driving experience is a plus - training can be provided for the right candidate.
