We are delighted to be working with a progressive and long-established accountancy firm based in Preston, Lancashire, with over 50 years of industry experience. The firm is currently seeking an experienced Semi Senior Accountant to join their friendly and vibrant team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior or trainee accountant with around three years of practice experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. The firm offers excellent support, development opportunities, and a collaborative working environment.



Semi Senior Accountant Job Overview

  • Responsible for bookkeeping and preparing VAT returns for a diverse portfolio of clients, including sole traders, SMEs, limited companies, and owner-managed businesses (OMBs).
  • Confident in using cloud-based and desktop accounting software, ideally including Xero, IRIS, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Prepare year-end accounts up to review stage, working closely with a Senior Accountant who will provide guidance and oversight.
  • Assist in the preparation of personal tax returns, primarily for company directors and shareholders.


Semi Senior Accountant Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing year-end accounts.
  • Ideally AAT qualified or currently studying, with study support towards ACCA available for the right candidate.
  • A proactive and client-focused individual who takes pride in delivering quality service, solving problems, and helping clients grow.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.


Semi Senior Accountant Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications (flexibility for the right candidate).
  • Flexible working hours: Monday to Thursday: Start between 8am-10am, finish between 4pm-6pm and Friday: 9am-2pm half-day!
  • Hybrid working: Up to 5 remote days every 2 weeks (Mondays are in-office).
  • 30-minute lunch break.
