The Opportunity:
As a School Cleaner at our Preston secondary school, you will be responsible for ensuring that designated areas of the school premises are kept clean, hygienic, and safe for all occupants. This is a crucial part-time role for those seeking fixed afternoon hours.
Key Responsibilities (Daily 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM):
- Cleaning designated areas within the school, including classrooms, corridors, communal spaces, offices, and staff rooms.
- Vacuuming carpeted areas and sweeping/mopping hard floors.
- Emptying and cleaning bins.
- Spot cleaning of spillages and marks on surfaces, walls, and doors.
- Dusting, wiping, and polishing furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
- Cleaning and sanitising toilet areas, ensuring they are well-stocked with consumables.
- Wiping down desks, chairs, and high-touch surfaces.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
- Reporting any maintenance issues or damages to the Site Manager/Supervisor.
- Ensuring cleaning materials and equipment are stored safely and correctly.
- Contributing to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across the school site in Preston.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous cleaning experience, ideally within a school or similar large public building environment, is highly desirable but not essential.
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
- Able to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- A good understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment, and willingness to undertake training.
- A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Understanding of and commitment to safeguarding procedures within a school setting.
