Our Client, West Sussex County Council, is looking for a Programme Director - Devolution, to join their team.

MUST HAVE LOCAL AUTHORITY EXPERIENCE

Pay - £800 - £900 per day

Working arrangements - There will be an expectation for some office working - and to travel around the 3 Local Authorities as part of engagement work. Office base can be one of the local authorities.

Job Description :

The Programme Director/ Director of Transition will drive and support the establishment of the Sussex & Brighton Mayoral Combined County Authority (MCCA). This role involves leading the transition programme, working collaboratively across East Sussex County Council, Brighton & Hove City Council and West Sussex County Council, as well as engaging with district and borough councils and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and effective transition.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Programme Management
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive programme plan for the creation of the MCCA.
  • Coordinate activities across the three upper-tier authorities to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Monitor and report on programme milestones, risks, and issues.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners across Sussex.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with Government departments
  • Facilitate regular communication and collaboration with key local stakeholders, including local businesses, community groups, and residents.
  • Organise and lead stakeholder meetings, workshops, and consultations.
  • Governance and Compliance:
  • Ensure the programme adheres to relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop governance structures and processes for the transition period and the new authority.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for the Devolution Joint Committee and supporting infrastructure.
