Adecco Public Sector is proud to be working with Mid Sussex District Council as they seek to recruit a number of permanent roles into their People & Commercial Services Directorate.
About the Role:
Mid Sussex District Council is seeking a strategic and experienced Environmental Services Manager to lead the delivery and development of key frontline contracts across waste, street cleansing, and green spaces.
This is a high-impact role for a confident leader with a strong background in contract management, procurement, and service improvement. You'll manage a team of Contract Officers and work closely with suppliers, community groups, and internal stakeholders to ensure services are delivered to a high standard, contractual obligations are met, and performance is continuously monitored and enhanced.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading contract management and procurement for major environmental services
- Managing supplier relationships and overseeing performance and risk
- Driving service improvements and identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency
- Supporting the delivery of the Council's Social Value Charter and Sustainable Economy Strategy
- Preparing and managing budgets, bids, and service plans
Preparing reports, attending Council meetings, and representing the Council in regional forums and stakeholder engagements
About You:
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Relevant qualifications and experience in contract delivery and management
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Proven experience in procurement, supplier performance monitoring, and budget control
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Political awareness and confidence in handling sensitive conversations
- A strategic mindset with the ability to deliver policy and service improvements
