We are seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teacher to make a significant impact on the lives of children with various needs including MLD, ASD, Speech and Language Needs, Downs Syndrome, SEMH, and Complex Needs. This role is based in Croydon and offers a competitive daily rate. The ideal candidate will have a passion for special education and a commitment to helping each student achieve their personal best.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences tailored to special needs students.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with curriculum objectives specific for special needs.
  • Use a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities etc.) to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities.
  • Assess students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills on regular basis.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with parents and provide appropriate information on their child’s progress and needs.
  • Manage student behaviour in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parent meetings, and whole school training events.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a special needs teacher.
  • In-depth knowledge of teaching students with MLD, ASD, Speech and Language Needs, Downs Syndrome, SEMH, and Complex Needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with students.
  • Patient, caring, and creative.
  • Professional behaviour and strong ethical values.
