Job Title: Planning Manager
Location: Based in Kilsyth with site visits to Peterhead as required
Project: Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2)

 

We are currently seeking an experienced Planning Manager on behalf of our client to work on the Eastern Green Link 2 project. This position is based in Kilsyth, with site visits to Peterhead as needed. EGL2 will unlock Scotland’s renewable energy potential and boost the UK's clean energy capacity, powering around two million homes. Your expertise will be vital to the success of this project, and they are keen to welcome a skilled professional to their team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 4-6 Planning Engineers, ensuring the delivery of detailed, robust programmes throughout the project.
  • Manage changes that impact the programme and project progress.
  • Develop and maintain detailed programmes in Primavera P6, including resource loading.
  • Incorporate civil construction techniques into workable programmes.
  • Work closely with estimators and commercial teams on programme-related matters.
  • Analyse risks in programmes using QSRA.
  • Use a variety of planning tools to effectively communicate the programme.
  • Collaborate with bid teams to produce outline programmes for tenders.
  • Support monthly reporting with the Senior Project Controls Engineer and Commercial teams, managing payment milestones and work progress in the P6 programme.
  • Manage change programmes in line with the FIDIC contract procedure, ensuring smooth communication and compliance.
  • Contribute to overall project controls alongside the Project Controls Manager.
  • Identify contract requirements and constraints.
  • Assist in developing detailed project programmes.
  • Liaise with various teams to ensure the programme reflects all project activities and logic.
  • Monitor progress, analyse trends, and report findings to management promptly.

 

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Degree or HNC in a relevant civil engineering discipline.
  • Experience working on Energy or Substation projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Senior Planner/Planner on large projects within a main contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC EPC contracts and a good understanding of NEC contract delivery.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor junior planners.
  • Passion for promoting a safe working environment.
  • Tender experience would be beneficial.
  • Experience in large programmes with resource loading, including the early phases through to completion.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 (essential), with additional knowledge of Microsoft Project or other software an advantage.
  • Flexibility to travel when required.
