Acoustic Consultant - Reading - 32,000 to 45,000 + Benefits

A specialist UK-based Acoustics and Environmental Consultancy is seeking an Acoustic Consultant to join its team in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant with a few years of experience to contribute to a range of environmental and building acoustics projects while developing their career in a fast-growing and well-supported team.

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree in Acoustics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • 2-5 years' experience in acoustic consultancy.

  • Proficiency in noise modelling software such as CadnaA or SoundPLAN.

  • Solid understanding of UK standards and guidance (e.g., BS4142, BS8233, WHO Guidelines).

  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Membership with the Institute of Acoustics (IOA).

  • Experience with site-based noise and vibration monitoring.

  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.

  • Experience in both environmental and building acoustics assessments.

The Role:
You will work on a wide range of acoustic assessments for planning, construction, and infrastructure projects. The role involves acoustic modelling, fieldwork, reporting, and direct client interaction, with scope to progress into project management and mentoring.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting noise and vibration monitoring on-site.

  • Acoustic modelling and prediction using industry-standard tools.

  • Preparing high-quality technical reports for planning and compliance.

  • Collaborating with internal teams, clients, and local authorities.

  • Supporting junior team members and contributing to project delivery.
