Communications Assistant ; Reading; 6-month Contract; £16p h PAYE; InsideIR35.
We currently have a requirement for a proactive and experienced Communications Assistant to join our defence industry based External Communication Team . The role ideally based at the Reading site, but other company locations could be considered i.e. Bristol, London or Cheadle. This is not a remote role and a hybrid working pattern of 3 days on site is in place
This interim role will provide vital support during a period of reduced capacity, helping to maintain momentum across key campaigns, content delivery and stakeholder engagement.
The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator with a broad skillset spanning content creation, campaign support, media relations, and digital communications. They will be a team player with strong organisational skills, comfortable juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support delivery of planned external communications campaigns across company UK market sectors and themes
Draft and edit engaging content for a range of channels including press releases, blogs, website pages, internal updates and social media posts
Assist with campaign planning and scheduling in collaboration with the wider team
Provide media relations support including press office admin, monitoring and reactive support
Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather information and shape communications outputs
Coordinate with agency partners, freelancers and digital teams as needed
Ensure consistency with brand tone, messaging and company guidelines
Skills & Experience:
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills across formats and audiences
Ideally some experience in external communications, content, or media relations
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines
Collaborative approach with strong stakeholder engagement skills
Familiarity with digital platforms (e.g. social media, website CMS, Hootsuite)
Experience in B2B or complex sectors (e.g. tech, defence, engineering) desirable)
Additional Information:
This is a contract position for six months. We are looking for someone who can start quickly and ideally hit the ground running. .
This role would suit a recent graduate in Communications, Public Relations or Marketing
