About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operative / Van Driver to join our clients' team. This varied role provides essential cover in both warehouse operations and distribution, ensuring efficient handling, delivery, and collection of goods. The ideal candidate will be flexible with working hours and comfortable alternating between warehouse duties and driving responsibilities as required.

Key Responsibilities

Driving Duties:

  • Conduct pre-drive vehicle inspections, ensuring roadworthiness and reporting any defects.

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of company vehicles.

  • Deliver goods efficiently, ensuring correct sign-offs from recipients.

  • Adhere to food handling (HACCP) standards at all times.

  • Drive responsibly and report any delivery issues promptly.

  • Complete paperwork accurately and follow fuel card procedures.

  • Undertake ongoing driver training to uphold standards.

Warehouse Duties:

  • Receive and check incoming stock against purchase orders.

  • Ensure delivered goods meet agreed specifications, including packaging and labelling.

  • Monitor and record temperature controls for stored goods.

  • Accurately pick, load, and prepare goods for dispatch.

  • Perform regular stock control checks, including batch codes and expiry dates.

  • Maintain a clean and organised warehouse environment, adhering to weekly cleaning schedules.

  • Ensure damaged/out-of-date stock is quarantined appropriately.

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all safety procedures related to plant, equipment, and protective gear.

  • Report any safety concerns to management.

  • Ensure compliance with GDPR policies regarding handling of sensitive data.

Working Hours:

  • Driving shifts: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM

  • Warehouse shifts: 4:30 AM – 1:30 PM or 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Valid UK Driving Licence

  • Experience in warehouse operations, picking, and packing

  • Experience in multi-drop deliveries

  • Strong English language skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise tasks

  • Reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented

Desirable:

  • GCSEs in English & Maths (or equivalent)

  • Food Hygiene Certification

  • Experience in temperature-controlled environments or the food industry

  • Bendi FLT Licence

  • Strong geographical knowledge
